These are all words that might make you think of college football season. When fall approaches, you can feel it in the air. When football season approaches, you can feel it as tension mounts between rivals: Auburn vs. Alabama, Ohio State vs. Michigan, Florida vs. Florida State, Georgia vs. Georgia Tech, Nebraska vs. Oklahoma (soon to be obsolete), Army vs. Navy. These rivalries set friends against friends, husbands against wives, and parents against children for at least one game of the season, if not for the entire season itself. Drinks get tossed, punches get thrown, and the silent treatment gets used as one fan sulks and another fan celebrates.

You might ask, why do we do this to ourselves? Because it’s football season, folks! It comes around once a year and turns us into aggressive, football-watching maniacs for a little over 3 months…and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Go Gamecocks and War Eagle!

Word of the Week: Defense

Word to the Wise: “I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'”
Psalm 91:2

Disclaimer: This blog post does not list every college football rivalry. Feel free to badmouth the blogger in comments below for leaving out your favorite matchup.

J-for Jacksonville, S-T-A-T-E, U-niversity, J-S-U!
War Eagle, fly down the field, ever to conquer, never to yield!
