Smart or Pretty?

October 24, 2010

Some words are polar opposites: hot vs. cold, old vs. new, young vs. old, night vs. day, smart vs. pretty.

Smart vs. pretty?

Really?

This is one polar opposite that I am ready to prove wrong.

  Meet Lacey:

Lacey has an MA in English.

She works in technical writing and teaches college English.

  Meet Kacee:

Kacee is completing her PhD in biochemistry.

  Enough said.

  Meet Katie:

Katie received a degree in communication and English.

She became an entrepreneur, doing a job she loved.
How many people can say that?

  Meet Shawna:

Shawna is a doctor, a real MD.

She is currently completing her residency.

All smart women. All very pretty. Should they have to choose between being smart and pretty? I think not!

So raise your glasses:  here’s to proving stereotypes wrong. Here’s to being smart and pretty!

Words of the Week: Smart and Pretty (why should I have to choose?)

Word to the Wise:   “He has made everything beautiful in its time.”  Ecclesiastes 3:11

Disclaimer: By singling out these four women, I am in no way implying that my other friends are dumb or ugly. No hate mail, please.
