Pilates in the Park

Chicago has workout classes in Millennium Park every Saturday in the summer. I made my first attempt to get downtown early enough to participate today. Unfortunately, I had to wait 20+ minutes on my bus and my train got delayed for 10+ minutes at one of the stops on my route…which extended my commute by 30+ minutes (for all you English majors out there). I arrived downtown just in time for yoga relaxation.

So, instead of yoga, which was the class I most wanted to take, I took pilates. It was so nice to be outside first thing in the morning…and to work out with a couple hundred of my closest friends.

I rewarded myself for getting up early with a very large iced coffee for the train ride back home.

It was bliss.

How do you feel about working out in public? Cool? Or not cool?

You’re not going to believe this…but…I MET MY RUNNING GOAL!

These were my Week 4 Workout Goals:

  • take 1 dance class
  • complete 1 Bosu workout
  • take 1 Pilates class
  • run 5 miles
  • walk 10,000 steps per day

and I pretty much rock.

I also did pretty good with my Week 4 Food Goals:

  • eat 2 types of fruit or veggies a day

I was really committed this week. I even got up early while on vacation to run my last 1.5 miles. Rock on!

I’m rewarding myself this weekend with a trip to the lake! Pontoon boat, here I come!

How do you make sure you eat your fruits and veggies?

What is it with me and running? I just can’t seem to make myself do it…mostly because I can’t make myself get out of bed early enough to do it.

These were my Week 3 Workout Goals:

  • take 1 dance class
  • complete 1 Bosu workout
  • take 1 Pilates class
  • run 4 miles
  • walk 10,000 steps per day
  • work in the yard

I took a fun dance class. I had an amazing bosu workout and pilates class. I walked a lot. I may have missed 10,000 a couple of days, but I was close or even exceeded it other days. But running? 2 miles. That’s it.

Did I do better with food?

These were my Week 3 Food Goals:

  • eat 2 types of fruit or veggies a day

I’m pretty sure I hit this goal…that is, if you count my daily hummus intake. 🙂

Week 3 is shaping up to be a good week…except that pesky 4-miles worth of running. 🙂

How are you doing on your workout goals this week?

So how did I do in week 2?

Okay. I did okay.

Here were my goals:

  • complete 1 Bosu workout – check
  • take 1 Pilates class – check
  • run 4 miles – 1/2 check
  • walk 10,000 steps per day – 1/2 check
  • eat 2 types of fruit or veggies a day – maybe a 1/2 check

Running: I only ran 2 miles – not 4. I started off the week right with an early morning Tuesday run. Running went downhill from there. I have a really hard time getting out of bed in the mornings (understatement of the year), so getting motivated to get up and run…extremely difficult!

Walking: I hit 10,000 most days. In order to boost my steps, I walked the 2 miles home from the train in the afternoons. Definitely an easy walk that is worth it on most days.

Eating: I didn’t do so hot on the fruits and veggies, so this goal is staying on my list for week 3!
